About
Our Story
Ascend Wellness was founded with the vision of creating a space where individuals can heal and thrive. After years of working in the wellness and therapeutic fields, our founder Janine Henry saw the profound impact different therapies had on her clients, especially those facing significant life challenges like cancer recovery and injury rehabilitation. Ascend Wellness was born from the desire to provide accessible, specialized care for people at all stages of their wellness journey.

Janine Henry
Founder & Therapist
Janine Henry, the founder of Ascend Wellness, moved to the beautiful Okanagan Valley from Alberta in 2019. With a deep passion for holistic health, she earned a 2200-hour massage therapy diploma (honors with distinction) from the Alberta College of Massage Therapy and is an active member of both the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC) and the College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia (CCHPBC).
A key passion for Janine is supporting individuals through focused care. She has received advanced training in oncology massage and post-mastectomy massage, and is dedicated to helping those affected by cancer and surgery find relief and healing through therapeutic touch.
In addition to massage therapy, Janine holds a 200-hour RYT certification in Anusara Yoga from Vancouver, B.C., and has studied various holistic health practices, including yoga, meditation, nutrition, and body mechanics. This broad training shapes her client-centered approach to wellness, which is educational, preventative, and focused on long-term rehabilitation.
Janine integrates lifestyle practices such as proper body mechanics, self-care, and mental health awareness into her treatments. She incorporates stretches and strengthening exercises into home care plans to help clients maintain good posture and overall health. With a slow and steady approach, Janine focuses on releasing chronic issues like trigger points, fascial restrictions, nerve entrapment, and knots. She is committed to helping each client live pain-free and feel empowered in their wellness journey.
Please note: Janine does not treat patients under the age of 18, as she does not have additional pediatric training.

Carol Domanko
Massage Specialist
Carol began her journey in health and wellness after graduating from film school in 2008. She fell in love with the practice of yoga not only for its physical benefits but for how it boosts mental health. She did her first yoga teacher training in 2011, and began sharing her love for yoga full time. Carol went on to deepen her knowledge and skills, and has since completed over 800 hours of yoga training.

Carol has always loved the hands-on part of yoga, and believes in the healing power of touch and human connection. So in March of 2024, she decided to pursue massage therapy at Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Calgary.
The course is a blended program that is both online and hands-on, so she is able to live and work in the Okanagan while completing her studies. The more she learns, the more the body amazes her! She can't wait to graduate and use her skills to help people feel and move better.
In her down time, you can find Carol spending time with her Labradoodle “Moose”, hiking a mountain, practicing yoga, experimenting in the kitchen with new recipe, making jewelry for her line “Shakti Bling”, or indulging her creative side in some way.
